About

What happens when your professor points you in a certain direction? If you follow that advice as I did, you become a professional calligrapher.

I was introduced to the elegant letter forms of Chancery Cursive in a graphic design class at Washington University when I earned my master's degree in studio art. While teaching at JFK high school, Bruce and I became engaged. It was during the summer, so I was able to spend countless hours practicing and honing my calligraphic skills as I designed our wedding stationery. Since then I have written calligraphy in every size from business cards to church banners. I specialize in elegant calligraphy for celebrations and parties, writing primarily in Copperplate and Italic hands. My lettering services include addressing envelopes, writing name and table cards, all stationery and event items. I design original invitations, monograms, letter favorite poems and messages, fill in certificates, genealogy charts, create family trees. My portfolio includes lettering names on awards and certificates for organizations such as The Saint Louis Arts and Education Council, plus a document for the governor.

My goal is always: "Let's discuss YOUR idea and bring it into reality at an affordable price."

I have taught art in several schools for over 20 years, K-12. I love combining media, and I strive to expose the artist within every student. Recently I have been teaching homeschoolers and have offered private lessons to beginning calligraphers. I can't keep my hands off clay, so that is one of the media I most enjoy when teaching at Chesterfield Arts. The Saint Louis Calligraphy Guild activities along with a wonderful mentor expand my artistic thinking.

On the other hand.... (I have two, as do you.) I am fascinated by the effects of COLOR. I offer individual consultations to determine your personal COLOR palette. By assessing your unique coloring - skin, eyes, and hair, we can determine which COLORS are most complimentary for you to wear. With the correct COLOR wheel in hand to guide you when you shop, you will bring home only the most flattering clothing. This leads to choosing better COLORS in cosmetics and hair as well, all for a very moderate fee, which is waved for brides who use my calligraphy services. A great way to experience this is in a group party, such as a Girl's Night Out or SPA event for the bridesmaids.

Some of my other interests include: travel, tennis, health and wellness, skin care, psychology of personalities, scrap booking, all arts and crafts, sewing, photography and canoeing.

My engineer husband Bruce, a.k.a. Mr. Fix It, hails from Brooklyn, NY. Our 4 grown children are scattered about the country — coordinating collections for a food bank; pursing theater and entrepreneurial activities; implementing software, handling customer relations; managing in the food industry.
