What happens when your professor points you in a certain direction? If you follow that advice as I did, you might become a professional calligrapher.
While earning my masters degree in studio art at Washington University, I was introduced to the medieval script Chancery Cursive. A high school art teacher, I became engaged during the summer, so I was able to spend countless hours practicing and honing my calligraphic skills as I designed our wedding stationery. Thus my business was born! People have found me since then for all sorts of lettering projects.
An art teacher for 25 years, K-12, I love combining media to reveal the artist within every student. I offer individual lessons to aspiring calligraphers and teach other art classes. Active in the Nashville and Saint Louis Calligraphy Guilds, plus the International Association of Master Penmen (IAMPETH), workshops taught by outstanding calligraphers expand my artistic thinking and skills.
Other interests include travel, tennis, health and wellness, psychology of personalities, reading, and photography. My engineer husband Bruce, a.k.a. Mr. Fix It, hails from Brooklyn, NY. Our 4 grown children are scattered about the country.
